President Moon Jae-in announced on the 7th that "by 2025, we will more than double the number of solar and wind power facilities."

President Moon said in a video message commemorating the "2nd Blue Sky Day" and stressed that he would accelerate energy conversion.

As of last year, the size of solar and wind power production facilities was 17.6 GW (Gigawatt), and President Moon repeatedly emphasized the government's plan to increase this to 42.7 GW by 2025, the Blue House explained.

President Moon said, "We need to transform the economic structure," adding, "The Green New Deal also aims to be carbon-neutral." We will further boost the potential of renewable energy through technological innovation, he explained.

The carbon-neutral policy could be an opportunity for companies to leap forward in the battery and hydrogen economy fields, he said. "Companies are also expanding related investments. The government will also help Korean companies respond well to new international orders such as carbon national taxes, he said.

President Moon said, "The Framework Act on Carbon Neutrality enacted last week contains an intermediate goal of reducing carbon emissions by more than 35% by 2030," adding, "It is a much more challenging goal than other countries, but we can achieve it." The government also said with confidence that it will announce the "2050 Carbon Neutral Scenario" within this year.

"Fine dust reduction is also important," President Moon said. "The concentration of fine dust has greatly improved with strong measures over the past four years. We will protect children's health by reducing pollutant emissions through the seasonal management system again this year."
